We survived family beach trip aka relocation 2025 and now we are in the trenches of all the things back to school and back to fall. This week has involved or will involve:
3 Open Houses
18 feet getting new shoes
7 heads that need hair cutting
9 bookbags that need to be filled with all the supplies
2 swim team meetings
1 scout planning meeting
5 XC practices
3 soccer practices
- that I can recall - oh and I need to schedule choir auditions.
I am waffling between being ready for people to go back and not being ready for summer to end. The freedom of a semi-schedule-less summer and the school and activities that demand routine of the school year both have their pluses and minuses and I'm torn as we transition to the latter.
I think am mostly ready for school to start but ask me after a few weeks of chauffeuring people around the county for hours on end.
With the whirlwind of activities it does make us talk about the various activities that our family commits to. The fall calendar at the present moment seems a hair daunting but so far our philosophy of - we cannot do all things - seems to work in most cases as we try to balance the activities the kids want to do versus the activities we find valuable.
Here's to the last few days of summer and kicking off the school year.
