Plans for tonight are still I'm the air. E is clueless and would be fine running around the house as a cow. I am not sure the halloweening plan for our neighborhood. Regardless the pumpkin is carved.

The Grind and a Milestone

I have the unfortunate tendency to get frustrated with work stuff every so often. I know everyone probably does but seriously you don't know the extent of the flexible-ness of my jobs. As I sit here waiting for an answer to an email I just sent to a shipping company in China - I remember that despite all the frustration with my jobs I am fortunate to A. have a job, two in fact and B. have employers who are willing to let me be a mom and an employee - something that no monetary value can be put on. I love the set up I have with the girls going to MMO/Preschool in the AM and working from home in the afternoons. It is pretty darn great.

Speaking of MMO, guess who is making her first appearance tomorrow... Yes little R is going to do a few trial runs at MMO over the next two weeks so she can start going three days a week. Ugh! I was a wreck when I took E for the first time but I know it will not be as bad tomorrow. I will miss R hanging out in the office - literally- but she is on the verge of going mobile and it is not fair to keep her there. The selfish side of me wants her to stay but the equalize says she needs to go and be free with her friends and her big sis. The mom inside of me hates to leave her and the employee inside of me says I can probably be a bit more efficient without her. The financial analyst inside me is not thrilled about the added expense but the coupon clipper says this is way cheaper than the alternatives.

Then I sit back and think about it from all angles and realize that without my flexible employers I would not be having this conversation in my head so I am reminded of just how thankful I am to not be 100% stay at home mom and 100% have kids in daycare mom. To each his own and you have to find what works best for you. Some moms are meant to be at home and others are meant to work full time - I prefer being stuck here in the middle

To Pack or Not To Pack...

I am having a small packing dilemma. Arctic temps have arrived to NC - well that was a bit of a hyperbole but still it is cold - so no more summer clothes. So I need to get the girls clothes sorted out but we have this sweet trip that is jet setting us to a tropical island before the end of the year so....

Do I

1. Pack up all the summer stuff and break it out when it comes time to pack for the trip
2. Pack the girls suitcase now and be done with it
3. Leave the summer clothes mixed in until the trip and then take them out?

I am kind of leaning toward option 2 but IDK... Thoughts?

Also, I have to pack for a feast day we are missing during the trip. Don't worry I won't tell you what it is because then someone might send burglars to our house and give our alarm system a run for its money. Don't worry I have full faith and confidence in its police calling, blow your ears out ringing abilities : )

All around Mom's weekend

Props to Papa for this past weekend - it was one for the books!

A. Friday night - Mom friend and I went out to dinner. First went to Talbots and make a few exchanges, then settled for The Grill in the Mount - because Outback is way too loud. It seriously took us about 1.5 glasses of wine and 45 minutes just to order our entrees! Of course the main topic of conversation - the girls and the papas. Good night

B. Saturday afternoon/evening - First time Papa is on dinner and bath duty ALONE with the girls. Only mishap was E dumped an entire bottle of shampoo in her bath. I went to Raleigh-world to retrieve E's Christmas present - its a Pottery Barn kitchen and it is pretty darn cool. Then after seeing my dad and bro it was off to the Hill for a little Newman reunion. It was surreal driving back through Chapel Hill in the minivan, thinking about how different life is four years later. Good night all around there too!

C. Lee did steaks on the grill for dinner tonight - they were awesome! I did have to all Nash County Animal Control because there were 3 dogs roaming around the backyard. Seriously I don't know these dogs and I have little kids so I doubt anything will come of the call.

Grammy got the girls these insanely cute bathing suits for the summer. I promised a pic of them. Here is the best I got.

A. We really don't go swimming that much because it all mom hands on deck when Papa works on Saturdays.

B. I really tried this pic three different days

C. We are going to a sunny warm destination this fall - I still have not done my passport post yet - and R is going to be way too big for her swimsuit : (

D. All other pics, E is smiling and R is not just crying, but screaming : )

R's Pumpkin Patch Adventure

Here we are...

Not sure which one is my favorite. R was not particularly thrilled about the costume.

Love the colors

Like the $5.00 sign in the mid ground

Like how R is about the same size as her surroundings

Like the light on this one the best

Love my serious pumpkin

E and Papa went too and picked out pumpkins and checked out the animals. We will return to the pumpkin patch for joint E and R pics.

September Update

Vote for me @ Top Mommy Blogs - Mom Blog DirectoryIts a long time coming and I have not even done August yet but here goes...

The month started off with our annual family trip to DC for the Middle Eastern food festival. We left at 5:30 in the AM Saturday instead of driving late Friday afternoon and it was awesome. Lee loaded the car and I got the girls changed and in the car and we were off. Lee drove and we slept until 8ish. We stopped for a semi-quick breakfast at Cracker Barrel and we were off to the Metro stop. We ventured the DC Metro to get to Arlington National Cemetery - which my paternal grandparents are buried. We visited their grave and the skies did not look nice so we strapped our National Mall plan and headed straight for the Middle Eastern food. Questionable decision because it was smack in the middle of the dreaded nap time. We survived. Stayed for vespers and then headed to the hotel. We got R situated in the pack and play- hotel cribs creep my out a bit. We settled in with E for the long haul. I think Lee threatened to leave a handful of times. E was out of her element and getting to sleep was no easy task. We saw some friends the next morning at church and then headed over to my Aunt and Uncles for dinner Sunday - which has become another fun tradition! Monday was off to the Nats game. I thought the tickets I got were alot better than I thought - still really annoyed so not going there. Seats were great and the girls... were ready to go so we only made it to the sixth inning. We were home by 7 so all in all it was a success and we'll probably keep it up!

Lee's favorite stop on the Metro

So tired

Yummy popcorn
R is loving food... morning, noon and night. I am not even sure what she should be eating at 7-8 months... I am so behind but Cheerios are safe!

Pancakes on the first day of preschool! E LOVES her two-yr old class. She was so very excited to go and wants to go every day.

R is also excited about the morning activities

R is a sitter now. E is still really rough with R and I hear a few bangs when E runs to R and gives her a squeeze and lets go. Also we have had some sharing issues. E will run up to R and say 'Awwww Sweetheart' and take the toy. There is some intervention and the occasion tear.

E loves matching R. Can you tell?

The sisters are so cute together and R stares E down all the time and she is such a little sponge so I cannot wait to see them together. Gah!!!!!!! They are soooo cute!!!!!!!!
