7QTs - Hair Ties, Goggles, CSW

Linking up with Kelly and the usuals...

---1---

Sometimes I have little reminders of my kids...

I am a mom to several girls with long hair and finding hair ties is either really easy or super difficult. On this day it was easy. There are already murmurs of cutting our hair. I am still advocating for a pre-school hair cut like we did 2 years ago and I'm not quite sure if M will be able to get in on the action! 8 inches is a tall order for a 3 yr old who has never had her hair cut and whose hair doesn't seem to grow quickly at all but she is the one who is pushing the hair cut the most!

---2---

The swimmer does homework:

E had to get a new pair of goggles because the band on one of her pairs (she has to have 2) broke on both sides in less than 24 hours? Kind of weird because I thought the one side breaking was just a fluke. Anyhow, she wanted yellow and the brand she had before didn't have only yellow so we branched out to these and she HAD to try them out immediately.

---3---

R and M are taking swim lessons during E's swim practice #winning

It is super convenient and A stays home with Papa - love you A - so I get a break.

I love that R gets to be the big sister and be 'more advanced' if you will. She LIVES in E's shadow so much it's good for her to be the biggest. These girls are both hoping to swim 6 and under this summer. M doesn't really realize what that entails I am quite sure. R can do it if she wants to and she's eyeing a new bathing suit. Standing offer is if you swim 6 and under you get to pick out a (blue) racing bathing suit and I told E she could get one to match (because she kind of needs one) but also she will help cheer R on to 6 and under glory : )

---4---

The quilt!

So it is not backed or quilted in this pic - nor did I do any of the sewing to speak of - okay maybe a square or two. A HUGE gracias to the lady who has less time than I who got this done in no time. The quilt is en-route to my case and I cannot wait to see it. Hoping this will be a big bidding auction item in a month!

---5---

E was working on her World Heritage badge for AHG

She picked Japan, Israel and Kenya to learn about. Part of the badge is cooking food from those countries. Papa of course stepped up to the plate and made the cooking side of the badge happen #teamwork

We had beef stir fry from Japan, beans, corn and potatoes from Kenya and Jewish bread. I think my favorite was the Kenyan recipes and that will be added to the roles of Lenten recipes!

---6---

Catholic schools week was ages ago but here's to it anyway...

Crazy hair day!

There was one boy who painted his hair blue and put fish in it - I thought that was the most creative

Career day dentist!

In Spanish the week before they drew and wrote what that wanted to be but I didn't get a clue in time so Amazon Prime to the rescue for the scrubs and white coat. By the end of the day E said she wanted to be a hygienist except she kept on saying - high-GENE-est and I was DYING.

---7---

Also, the book fair was during Catholic School Week...

E had a more than great report card so she had some funds to burn. Of course she picked a needle arts book. Let it be known I am not crafty and I really don't have a lot of patience for crafts especially new ones that don't go according to plan. E and I sat in bed for FOREVER trying to get this bracelet started. It really doesn't help our joint cause that she's let handed and I am not. So we are doing things backwards from each other. E isn't the most patient person either (ehem... where did that come from). Anyway, she left more than disappointed. She has still emerged for the heights of the upstairs with her bracelet she is working on. Sometimes you just have to figure it out on your own.

7QTs - Chia, Diggers, & Teeth

Catching up from Holy Week and Bright Week (aka the week after Easter, aka Spring Break). But we went about our normal (boringness) for Spring Break so no fun vacation photos to report.

--- 1 ---

The digger left our yard Holy week...

Which only means one thing... Summer is coming. Which means I'm already mentally preparing myself for Papa's afternoon (and evening) presence, or lack thereof. Trying, trying trying to remember we survived last year and fingers crossed, fingers crossed, fingers crossed... we can do it again without A throwing us some major loops.

---2---

I'm definitely in rehearsal mode for the summer because I continue to do crazy things like...

Take 4 kids to the grocery store 7 minutes before a dentist appointment

Because I don't have all the ingredients for dinner!

Onward and upwards to the dentist. M went solo a few months ago because I was certain the 3rd child syndrome has struck her teeth and the brownish stains on them were cavities - but they weren't it is just something in her diet (probably). We still need to help her brush her teeth more though!

Last time M would barely open her mouth for the hygienist. This time - it wasn't even her appointment and nearly cried until she got her teeth polished. R has her teeth polished as well. As did E and basking in the glory of having lost 2 teeth.

---3---

Silly A

He is so cute!

He loves playing with his toes

He loves to eat his toes

---4---
Covered by Olaf!

M is so so so crazy!

---5---

R is getting to be so big!

Hair a mess, t-shirt, skirt and light up rainboots

Gah! She is so cute! So determined to do things by herself and her own way

---6---

Oh so I jumped on the 'crunchy' - if you will - chia seed train this weekend

A co-worker drinks chia seed water almost everyday. I tried it and it tasted a bit grassy - if they soak for any extended period of time. I think I might do yogurt/fruit smoothies for lunch this week and throw some chia seeds in them. A definitely was pleased with the volumizing effects chia is known to have on nursing moms.. Well oatmeal cookies did the same thing but I think chia seeds will be good since I've got some pavement to pound next weekend and not pounds to gain.

---7---

A was rooting on the Tarheels on Saturday...

And was quite happy to be cheering again tomorrow.

I think his tongue still has some residual indentation from when it was super attached (before it was clipped). It seems to me that within the past week or some he has really been moving it around more probably because he is getting all the good tastes out of the apples, bananas and sweet potatoes I've been giving him from the table. He is also HAPPILY using a sippy cup (Praise the Lord) and he is enjoying his 'gruel' - as Papa likes to call A's cereal.

Seven Quick Takes - It is pay day Friday Style

--- 1 ---

{Here's to Papa...}

I am sure Lee said something funny this week I just didn't write it down so I am going to fill in with the fantastic logical of my OB

Me - I don't want to take my glucose test (etc etc etc)
Dr - Well your first was 6/13 and your second was 7/10 so you are on track for an 8 or 9 lb baby
Me - I am all about 6 or 7 lb babies but that still does not change the fact I don't want to take the test
Dr - But you are trending towards a big baby
Me - Yeah, and if I had 8 or 9 kids that means that they'd be 14 or 15 lb babies...

--- 2 ---

On the topic of the doctor - sorry I just went yesterday... my doctor scored major points because we compromised and he let me take the glucose juice home! He asked me what my problem was with the test  (no base line blood reading before drinking the mess and high percentage of false positives) and among other things I said I have to be here at 8 am and I have two kids. So after I after asked him what happens if I just didn't show up and that I am the patients and I did not think I should have to negotiate - though I will for the baby's sake - he proposed the bring the drink home and come in at 9. BAM! His nurses were shocked and the lab tech (who is awesome) couldn't believe it. Score one for me, people!!!

Saving it for a raining day... aka my glucose test day!!!

--- 3 ---
Okay last baby topic take. Had the ultrasound and I PROMISE and I did not see any evidence of boy or girl. Tech said (of course) she knew. So that makes me lean towards girl because it should be pretty easy to spot a boy, right? Well I have been leaning towards a girl since.... forever, so I had best get on board with this girl name, right? : )

Like mother, like child : ) I totally don't like having my pic taken too, little one

--- 4 ---

On the similar doctor vain.... How about E had a dentist appointment this week. Not a problem. 30ish minutes late getting pulled back. Hygienist brushes her front teeth with the world's most expensive non-electric toothbrush. Brush same teeth with sonic toothbrush and a DAP of toothpaste. Flosses a few teeth. Wait 3 minutes for the dentist. Dentist looks at teeth and bite. Hygienist puts insta-dry fluoride on her teeth. E gets 3 stickers. Check out. Bill.... $126!!!! I looked at the lady and said this is the rate for people who are paying in full because they don't have dental insurance. Yes ma'am. Me - Last time it was $70. Lady -Right well its $125. Me - That is more than I pay at my dentist.

E's toothbrush and toothpaste... Grrrrrrr

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!??!?

Still trying to figure this out.

A. From time in chair to time out of chair is approximately 5 minutes. That breaks down to a little less than .50 per SECOND!!!!!!!!! and they did not even do ANYTHING
B. I am still fuming
C. My kids are NOT going to a peds dentist every six months. Maybe, maybe once a year.
D. Let's not get me started

--- 5 ---

R is starting to get over her fear of water outside and to show off dumped shovel fulls of sandy water on her head. Let's just say bathtime was not a pleasant experience for her.

I have been trying to figure out why the dirt and sand WON'T come out of her outfit. First wash sprayed it with Shout.

That's what came out after wash one. Wash load two, Tide Pod on stain and presoak cycle. There was improvement but FAR from acceptably clean. So now I am going to go with Oxiclean and/or Clorox 2. Very perplexed by my stain situation.

--- 6 ---
This kid is definitely a Southern Belle. She begged for more "cheeees" aka pimento cheese. It is my first batch of the summer and could have used a bit more cayene pepper but it is still really really really good.

--- 7 ---
Have you checked out and entered my giveaway? If not you totally should because, A. Entering is super easy B. You probably know somebody who has a baby and breastfeeds (excuse me as I make some sweeping assumptions!) C. These onesies are SO SO SO CUTE!
