7 Quick Takes - Food, Holding Hands, Orange

Linking up with Kelly ... surviving of school

---1---

We are definitely in between season and our laundry proves it

`

School uniforms and bathing suits. After this weekend a lot of the bathing suits will be packed away until next year. E will still be swimming in the fall and winter and R will likely start in the winter. M is in that strange stage of being capable of swimming by herself but getting vertical to take a breathe so she'll likely get more swim lessons with A once soccer is over.

---2---

I love these moment....

Walking over to the park during E's swim practice, they were just chatting it up. I think M really misses R during the day now that school is back in session

He may get on her nerves like crazy but she's a great big sis.

---3---

Friday night Lee took me out to dinner for my birthday. It was really nice. We went to a local brewery before and played corn hole - which we never do. Then we went to a restaurant we hadn't been to in well over a year (because the service wasn't great). I'm glad we went back.

Saturday evening we went to liturgy- we've been trying to get on a good church routine but it hasn't happened. Here are our options

Ukrainian liturgy - Saturday nights
Ruthenian liturgy - Sunday mornings
Roman/Latin rite Mass - block off the whole weekend because Lee serves at all the masses (and he's going to fuss at me about my rite notation but whatever : )

Anyways we were planning on making it a 3 week cycle at the beginning of the summer but that hasn't happened. It was time to hit the Saturday night DL. After church we went to Jason's Deli for dinner. If you have never been, it is great. Great salad bar and the best part... free soft serve ice cream. When we rolled in, it was a bit busier than usual so I wheeled A and C in their highchairs to the back room area where there was another family or two. I hit the salad bar and when I came back this mom was distributing napkins and packs of graham crackers (those are free too) around our table. I thanked her and looked over my shoulder and lo and behold another mom of five - hers were a bit older than ours. As they were leaving she said "You are doing a great job" to which I replied, "Thanks so are you!". Then she said, "Moms of five unite". Funny things happen when we go out to eat

So this meant that Sunday morning we were home - which was strange, but nice, but strange. I went on a run while Lee cooked. Cooking is definitely his love language - or at least one of them.

He asked me what I wanted him to cook for my (family) birthday dinner and I was on the fence. When I finally made up my mind and knew we'd be home for breakfast Sunday I raised the bar even higher by asking for my FAVORITE egg bake.

PEOPLE

It is amazing and it is paleo - not like I care - but its got a ton of veggies in it and zero cheese. So after my run, we had a peaceful kid free breakfast because they turn their noses up at it which works out really well for moi.

And if that wasn't enough he moved onto making homemade lasagna with two sauces and homemade noodles.

IT
WAS
INSANE

Then we had carrot cake a la Grammy for dessert - which was AMAZING.

Basically I gained a million pounds over my birthday weekend but it was worth it.

---4---

C rested while we ate breakfast because she is a wreck sometimes which meant that she was up while A was resting...

Except A's door does not close all the way so we had to block the hallway off so C wouldn't interrupt. She crawled up on the blockers like a champ but was so frustrated she could not get down!

---5---

This should be R's last year of tee ball...

Her coach (who is a good friend) wants the team to embrace orange. So instead of fighting it any longer, I decided to roll with it and got R some orange socks and she wanted to wear an orange hair tie. We are all waiting with baited breathe to see what color scheme we've got going on for this season (R's wearing last year's jersey to practice)

In other R news, she got her first blooming flower at school. Which is funny because the night before she specifically said - NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO GET A FLOWER - she was in a bit of a tired after school funk. Her teacher awards blooming flowers to the kids if they learn something new or do something great.

---6---

Our schedule on Tuesdays is interesting and was supposed to work really well.

E and R have AHG and E goes to swim practice so R and I got some time together and some time to read and stuff

Then after swim practice we eat dinner together and work on homework before AHG. It is perfect. Lee or I stays home with the others and all is well.

And that was the plan until this week...

Crazy tee ball games are going to be on Tuesdays - and they were supposed to be on Tuesday or Thursdays - so I knew there would be SOME AHG overlap but I didn't think it would be EVERY WEEK. So now I need to rework my game plan and pray for rainy Tuesdays

---7---

With bigger-ish kids in the house it is easy to forget what littler kids should be/ like to do.

Like take baths and sit and read bedtime stories for ever and ever. Sometimes I catch myself thinking would would NEVER have given E or R a shower or we would have read them ten stories and not just one or two. It take a bit of extra work letting the littles be little but when we can, it is definitely worth it.

7QTs - Sweets, Sports, Squirrels

Linking up with Kelly ... there's been a mountain of happenings this week!

---1---

The tail end of this week swirled with amillion and a half baby comments.

ExampleS...

When the next one...

What if you keep on having babies...

Andrew needs a little bro...

How many carseats can you fit in your van?...

Well its about time for the next one, right?

Are pregnant? You/re not pregnant, right?

OH MY GOODNESS

I kinda cannot handle it. Do I look pregnant? I mean i know we have five kids but gracious. There is not another baby to speak of at this point in time... but on God's time maybe we just might have another one or two or three or I don't know. I just cannot think about it because life is crazy^loca. We will loving and graciously welcome and be blessed by any future Kibbe babies. But for now let's not talk about BC or TT or Vs because we don't do that. And let's not be surprised in 3 or 6 or 9 or 12 months that there is another Kibbe baby because let's face it babies are A-mazing and they seem to be in the cards these days. My mom and mother-in-law totally pegged me for it when I was pregnant with C so if you are DYING to know when I'm pregnant then ask them.... because you know how we keep things under wraps until 14ish weeks.

Anyhow... happily Kibbe party of SEVEN... (that's insane!?!?!?) for now.

But if I cannot come up with a quick and witty follow up to baby innuendos... well whatever

---2---

More and more soccer....

M took about a zillion videos after her practice this week. All of them lasted about 1 seconds so whatever. The weather has been bizarrely chilly so Papa was home to man 3 of 5 so it was M and E and me for the long haul.

---3---

Big news for little peeps...

C started MMO this week. She's doing great and I'm getting the hang of this whole having to drop a kid off at daycare thing - like with names on bottles and snacks and stuff - the kids preschool converted from half day into half day and full day about 2 years ago so the state regulates the rooms and there just a lot more paperwork but still the same great atmosphere... It is taking some getting used to but C is actually in a class of kids all less than 12 months and I half expect her to crawl up to me one day when I pick her up.... but for now no. She's also got one nice shiny tooth in the bottom of there little bitty mouth.

It has also been a big week for A... This guy has been interested in using the potty / accepting of my potty treats (aka bribery). He actually came and got me today and said potty and walked me into the bathroom. So turning a corner maybe? I'm not getting my hopes up but I'm also not trying to totally ignore him because he is motivated and interested.

---4---

We are out of the Lenten meal schedule and onto some of the weekday favorites... (except by Lee but he is hungry so he eats it anyway)

TACOS!!!

Which brings me to my main point. The meat and more importantly the grease. The grease from the ground meant from a store is kind of a watery goo. The grease from the 1/4 cow we got from 15 miles down the road is straight grease. We'll be welcoming another 1/2 cow here before too long and we're trying to use all the meat we have before the new one. Lee cooked brisket today (hello temp sensor cooker) and it was a-mazing.

---5---

This picture pains me so...

The cleats I had since high school finally bit the dust last week. like dry rotted and the pegs fell off during practice. #ripcleats   Also those cleats hurt my feet because they were way small so after some price and SIZE shopping these are the new keepers. Trying to not memorialize my old cleats too much but gracious... babies will do a number to your foot size and also I need a new pair of Brooks running shoes and those are more expensive than these cleats!

---6---

The last 28 hours have been a barrel-o-monkeys....

Thursday evening was R tee ball and E soccer practice. We stopped at the Dollar General for marshmellows because R has bake sale for pizza luck the next day and Rice Krispy treats are my game for bake sale. BUT DG was not taking credit cards and I carry about .24 cents in cash around so that was an 8:15 P to the M bummer. I wen't out and got the necessary mellows after showers.

Lee woke me up to make them. I was happy to get to make them because when E had pizza lunch and 2nd was on bake sale duty it was the FLU OF 2018 around these parts so they settled for store bought goodness.

On top of the pizza lunch (which I have never been to) there was a fiesta wrapping up our school's annual fundraising campaign which I somehow ended up co-chairing. So Sno-Balls it was

A and M snuck in

A got a Sno-Ball and a half because the lady doing it gave him another half after he and I polished off the Blue Raspberry because he kept asking for purrrrr-plllll.

As if pizza lunch and Sno-Balls weren't enough. E got an extra blast of sugar because it was one of her classmate's birthdays.

Basically for me that meant

7:38 - leave house
12:14.99999 - pick kids up from preschool
12:38 - get home
1:17 - leave for sno-balls after doing lunch for littles
1:43 - get to school
1:45 - wave the snowball guy into parking lot
3:18 - leave school after snowballs and stuff and talking
4:02 - leave for R and M's last swim lesson
4:35 - start swim lesson...listen to E whine about how hot she is (even though I brought her a bathing suit) and keep A from walking into pool
5:45 - go to park
5:59 - toss E into soccer clinic; Lee exchanges A and R (who is going with friend to bubble funness)
7:29 - Get home, wonder where Lee is (hello busy brew mill and dinner pick up location)
8:24 - get A in bed
8:50 - send girls to bed

BECAUSE...................................

---7---

Saturday kicked off Spring Sports Season 2018...

Soccer for E
Teeball for R
Soccer for M
Spectating for A and C

We did lunch in between the soccer and tee ball games (praise the LORD we live close to the fields) but still we opted for eating at the field. Lee and Jibbe were able to be at both soccer games (again Thank You Lord) because I was coaching. And E's group is kind of really intense which is really fun and nerve racking at the EXACT SAME TIME.

M's team is cute. They are the Flying Squirrels. M wanted to be the squirrels but Flying Squirrels sound way cooler. But also she and I tell E and R we eat squirrels for lunch everyday and it drives them crazy so it is kind of an inside joke between me and M -which I love. M scored 2 goals and after a sluggish start pepped up and looked great.

R had tee ball for the 4th season if I am not mistaken.

They're going to get married one day.

C was a trooper but was sooooooo  so so very done when the tee ball game started.

A was pretty restless too and melted down on the way to the van which was excellent because Papa wasn't there to intercede so it was double fisting A and a stroller because that's how we roll sometimes

R had a good hit in the game (but then forgot to run)

E had a good game. She ran a lot and played goalie for a quarter (chip off the old block). She cried about the ref-ing and complained that she didn't want pink on her jerseys but SE LA VIE... pretty par the course for her. Her team won a good game and it is such a joy to coach even if my other kids are melting down

E is trying to wrap up a bunch of badges for AHG.

#mayiscoming

Which is exciting and nerve racking at the same time.

Here's to it all.

Odd Squad

Here's to the final night of the Odd Squad... (for a bit). Here's what they are up to

They'd best step up their collective game for the Christmas card pic... just saying

R - 5 - She is rocking Kindergarten. She has made some good friends in her 'new' school. She's got a good class of kids and I love that she loves her school and her friends. Her handwriting is still improving and she's powering through her sight words. Tee ball is her sport of choice is she is making HUGE strides in hitting off a pitch.

E - 7 - Second grade? E is getting into the groove. The first few weeks of second grade were kind of a bear (maybe more for me than her). She loves to read. LOVES TO READ. She can get so into a book. She's swimming year round again for the second year and doing well. Still working some kinks out of breaststroke, I believe she can do it but she might tell you otherwise.

C - 3 months - She's talking up a storm and loves to chat it up when I change her diaper and enjoys looking at herself in the mirror. I really need to move her into her crib for the night because I think we are keeping each other up at night. She's still coming to work with me and Papa has not attempted any sort of bottle with her soooooo, I'm never too far away.

A - 1 and/or 23 months - AAK (get that)! How. Is. It. Possible. A is turning 2 tomorrow. He is all boy. He loves to lay in the dirt and play outside. He is still in the very clingy mom stage during the day - especially when I drop him at school and in the afternoons. He HATES to wear shoes and has the saddest looking feet with splinters, ant bites and scrapes - but he wouldn't have it any other way.

M - 3 - This girl will be 4 in a month. Also, insane. She is loving her 3 yr old class and has some really great friends. She is mischievous and devious and calculating and cute all at the same time. M prefers playing with the big girls but can be caught playing with A after lunch because sisters are at school. She's a mess and she's got everyone fooled by her cuteness. She played soccer for her third season and did leaps and bounds better (comparatively, but we aren't supposed to do that, right) than her big sisters. We owe her a celebratory trip to Pit Stop and probably a few extra topping because of her season performance : ) I think M is a little E with some third child swagger.

It is kind of weird dynamics we have going on right now. I think that E, R and M are their own little dynamic in the family. E is definitely the oldest. R is the forgotten middle child who is harassed by the oldest and the youngest (M). I try not to forget her but it is hard because I think of her more like E and she's not as small as M - it is easy to forget she demands her own standards. M is the youngest who thinks they can get away with anything (she does get away with some stuff but when I catch her... score one for Team Mom - she is a predictable 3 yr old.)

A is the only boy and acts like an only child. He wants me to drop everything for him all the time. Hold him. Feed him. Take him outside. He wants all my attention.

C is still in that 'finding her place stage'. I don't know where's she's going to fall but A is so so so attached to her and the big girls are good with her but also give C her space because they have a million other things.

7 Quick Takes - Swimming, Kissing, Stitching

---1---

On Saturday most of us took one last dip in Jibbe's pool...

The infamous rock that the kids love and moms worry that kids are going to slip down

Lee even got in the pool (mostly because I couldn't)

A has really warmed up to the pool and M still isn't a huge pool fan

I couldn't convince her to dive of it

A is so so so so so big

---2---

The big girls headed to the beach on Sunday so most of the week it was just A and C...

This is A's version of giving C a kiss (the only person he will kiss)

It looks like he's going to lick an ice cream cone

And then he's super proud of himself and he moves so fast I can't get a clear picture

---3---

A was treated to not one but two of Papa's big machines sitting in the yard...

(yes it looks like a car lot sometimes)

Papa was fixing some rain drainage issues and A was very excited to have a front row seat :  )

---4---

Just to prove my point about how big A is...

I'm glad he'll actually sit with C... I can even set her in his arms for a second

Happy 4th of July!

---5---

In the big girls absence I found myself with a little extra morning and evening time on my hands...

So I finished all the cross stitching on M's (yes I'm that behind) stocking. Onto backstitching which doesn't seem like it should take forever and forever and hopefully it won't. I've got A's waiting in the wings and I've got time to decide what I want to do for C

---6---

A mirage on the way home from the beach?

This oasis of a playground was stumbled upon on the way back from the beach... A and C were troopers because they ended up being in the car for about 5 hours round trip. The big girls were antsy to get home but when C piped up after about 4 hours of not eating I knew we'd have to stop. And we did right at this park on the outskirts of Goldsboro. I'm going to have to save this one for future beach trips when little legs need to get some energy out or babies need feeding in the parking lot while the big kids play on the playground

---7---

Thursdays during the summer = sweltering swim meet

This girl just got upgraded to 6 and under

Because she swam her lap by herself

She'll swim on an outside lane next week just in case but....

Let's discuss just how excited she is!

Mom, why do you always have to take my picture?

C survived the swim meet too. And so did M who has come to realize that swim meet = snack time

Onward and upward, Happy Weekend!
