7QTs - Dr, ER, RR

---1---

Sickness report from the last 2 weeks:

An afternoon a couple weeks ago I was SURE that A had an ear infection. He woke up from his nap clingy (nothing new) and on fire. I teetered over taking him to the doctor but I ended up going because
A. I was sure it was his ear and
B. I was terrified of an ear diagnosis because any more ear incidents would likely earn us a FastPass to the ENT for tube.

Well we rolled in there with me and A and C, I was nursing C with A clung onto to me for dear life - he is pitiful when he's sick. Finally it was moment of truth and.... "his ears are the best I've ever seen them".

Oh the irony of it all. Ear infection parents unite. I can totally see if you have a kid with chronic ear infections why you immediately run to the doctor. I never understood until now.

In other thriller-ish illness news, M woke up sick in the middle of the night last Friday morning - like that kind of sick. She's a pitiful sick-y too. I was sure everyone was going to get the stomach bug and the whole house would succumb.... but everyone else escaped unscathed.

Praise
The
LORD!

An addendum to the sicky report.... yesterday Lee woke me up saying his back pain (from work - hello never ending pool season : ) had taken a turn to his stomach. Well he decided not to wait for his doctor's office to open and headed straight for the ER. Hello chaotic morning of dropping kids off, worrying about him, not going to the ER because C is small... Another praise report - it wasn't terribly serious, just diverticulitis. A few antibiotics and pain meds plus a change in diet and hopefully he won't be too worse for the wear.

During one of E's swim practices we patronized the park like so...

I think if I had to tote A around on my back all the time I'd be back to my pre-preg weight in a week. Also he thinks he's supposed to ride in the Beco all the time now... but he's not.

Swing love

Stroller love

---3---

He's so cute : ) and turning 2 next week!

A zonked out after the playground. He is so stinkin cute but he can drive me totally nuts at the same time. I think it might be time to cut his hair but I cannot bear the thought of baby boy looking like little boy.

CAN'T
DO
IT

---4---

This picture is worth a thousand words...

The Nini + her thumb = makes me sad the lady who made the Nini isn't here to see C

---5---

Okay this post is insanely old because these book are due in a day...

Rainbow Fairy Heaven

39 books checked out... I think about 20 were Fairies. E wanted to leave the library immediately after the fairies were found but I dragged her through the other aisles of books and low and behold - there are other books out there she likes!

---6---

As promised:

R's art. I think I love the H the most. Also, the D'neilian or whatever kind of script they use - the Ks are the worst. Not a fan.

---7---

Sports keep going along...

R is making some good strides in hitting a ball being thrown to her which is actually helping her when she hits of a tee ( They get 3 or 5 pitches and then the ball is placed on a tee). I'm excited for her. There will be batting lessons available in the winter so I'd love to sign her up for some so she can be a little more confident in the spring - if she decides to play because you know she is NEVER doing tee ball again according to her.

7QTs - Rain & Babies

We survived the week thanks to the monsoon of the month...

---1---

The rain kept our schedule in check this week...

I let them run in the rain Monday before lunch. No umbrellas or rainboots necessary.

No soccer game on Monday.

No tee ball game on Tuesday.

No tee ball practice on Wednesday.

Yay preschool art!

And she's taking more initiative to get her work done.... Still working on that summer workbook because someone has a very short temper when things aren't perfect

My hippie child...

She wore this pink hairband to school and then it broke... She still thinks I'm going to fix it with tape. But she LOVED just putting it on and wearing it around. I think St. Nikolas might be bringing so plastic hand bands because I cannot imagine her without them! Her teacher asked if she was THAT quiet at home... That would be a negative : )

---3---

M has been wandering out of bed and was banished to her crib for one night this week....

She didn't have her soccer game so... We will see what Monday holds

---4---

Let's discuss how cute he is...

Okay that's not necessary.

Think he's happy?

WRONG... so wrong. He has kind of been the crabbiest of patties the past few days which means he may be getting teeth? He was a pretty miserable kid in August when he was getting teeth.

And he likes to eat books... Just for the record

---5---

AHG is in full swing and E and R went on an excursion to the bird park last weekend

E is climbing to new heights... Literally

Rock walling it up after swim practice

E has an art project that was way over my math/science brain so I called in one of her cousins for reinforcements. E got this butterfly book for a project last year and she STUDIES it. Moths and butterflies... she's into them. I think this is the Blue Night something or other. I'm sure she'll correct me when I ask her and she could tell me if this is the male or the female and where it can be found living.

Babies abound... I found out that at least 2 families we know are having babies in 2017! So exciting. Tis the season, right?

Well speaking of that, and I think I've said it before BUT... seriously, seriously. The topic/question of when is baby K #5 coming next is indirectly hinted at or directly, to the tune of - ARE YOU PREGNANT YET? - comes up probably at least 3 times a week.

To all the people who support our procreative activities... thank you. In a world where we should have stopped having babies 3 babies ago, we appreciate your encouragement. Promise we'll let the cat out of the bag when there's one to let out. So keep on asking/hoping/praying and I'll keep on giving you the standard canned response... It is not in our hands and it is not on our time. Mysteries abound when you are open to life.

7QTs - Big Pillows, Helpers, Cute Drawings

Here we go...

---1---

Because everyone needs a pair of glow in the dark glasses from their sister's end of year bucket!

---2---

A's not quite sold on the pool but I did finally get him in. I got him a few reusable swim diapers because the disposables do the exact same thing and I'm the washing machine is rinsing bathing suits every other day around here. I need to try the mesh wrap that a friend loaned me but I'm not much of a wrapper - I 'get' the buckle carriers :  )

Also the pool put down these rubber restaurant mats in one of the corners of the pool deck and it is the perfect spot to put him down when either of us needs a break.

---3---

R is having a rocking time in the pool and getting a bit more confident swimming - though I am not 100% sure she'll make it to swimming 6 and under this season - which is totally fine, I mean come on she's 4. Offer stands for racing bathing suit when she does though!

---4---

M would love to claim ignorant on how to help with the laundry and I'll admit sometimes it is way easier to let her lounge about and be cute. However, she can in fact sort the clothes from the PJs and put them in baskets. Sometimes it takes a little prodding and it is BOUND to take FOREVER but I usually have so much wash to do on Saturdays that it doesn't matter how long she takes! Then getting R and/or E to inside them out is long, drawn out screaming match waiting to happen!

---5---

R's version of our family is awesome. I love the way she draws her people

---6---

There was a sextuplet pillow that fell into M's bowl early one morning and she got a few other doubles so I snuck it out and put it back in the box for E to find because I knew she'd freak out.

---7---

Well it has taken forever to get this post cranked out so I'm going to stop while I'm ahead. I have a few more pics from last week that I'll add to the next post.

Pre-Thanksgiving Feastings

I may not definitely am not cooking anything for the next 2 days but I did have some baking to do a few days before to get the kids in the turkey mood….

E had turkey homework again this year… If you have forgotten last year's check it out. I pretty much stayed out of this homework project - except for cutting the pipe cleaners (a turkey has two belly buttons???) and demanding that the glitter glue be spread out from the massive globs that were around a wing and the feet. And this is what you get when you leave a 4 yr old to her own devices with craft supplies...

When she turned it in the teacher put her name on the back and I told her why bother, because no one else would claim a turkey like that! : )

On to my part of the bargain here. So I did these turkey cookies last year and they were a hit. Pretty easy for as complicated as they look. So ding rounds two and three for our 4 yr old and 2 yr old parties. Except this year I had some severe peanut/tree nut allergies to deal with. Those things are for REAL y'all. E's class has a quarter of the kids with an allergy so I was reading labels like a crazy mama. Some sugar cookies have macadamia nuts in them, yeah I know. Who knew?!?! Also, Jelly Belly candy corns specifically note that they come from a peanut FREE facility - and I got the last bag so I was short on candy corn for my 4 yr old batch - you'll see why this is crucial.

The directions say cut each roll into 16 cookies but I only did 12 because my cookie sheet was small AND I had a limited number of candy corns.

Yep Lee had the girls cups out already - at 5:30 AM… How am I going to survive the mornings in the summer???

So my cookies came out massive and in squares and weird shapes because I should have reshaped the cookies before baking. PLUS with my candy corn shortage I couldn't compensate for the massive cookies with more candy corn around the edges.

Trust me… the 4 yr olds REALLY cared : )

E got to present her homework. The teacher asked if the homework was a "family activity". E said no she did it by herself in 2 days. Sweet… score one for the good parents in front of all the other parents…  Don't worry we're probably the most irresponsible people alive.

So the next day I took the plus/delta chart from the day before - did not have a peanut allergy to contend with - and was ready to make some more aesthetically pleasing turkeys for the twos...

Rolling the cookies and cutting the cookies into 20 instead of the recommended 16 was great

I did run out of black gel for the feet so some turkeys have blue feet. That gel is not the easiest stuff to try and make little feet with either! Candy corn abounded (that was made in a peanut (filled) facility).

I didn't get the cold shoulder at the party this time! (and she's wearing the same dress as last party)

And this is all the beautiful art that came home this week…
