Diono vs Britax - A Carseat Review

In case you missed it, we got in to a bit of a car wreck as few weeks ago. It was not bad and thankfully no one was injured (I've since seen a few wrecks and realize ours could have been a lot worse).

The insurance adjuster said to get new carseats - yep 4 new cars - and they had to be comparable in price to the ones we were replacing. We had a Britax Frontier, Britax Marathon, Diono Radian RXT, and a Baby Trend infant carrier/bucket. The Diono was M's Christmas present. I wanted to try it last year because the major selling feature aside from the safety is that you can fit 3 across a bench of seats - aka the third row of a van. I don't remember having any issues with it. I liked the fabric and the harness so I was ready to replace our Britax carseats with Dionos.

Clare Cecilia was born on Saturday afternoon after what seemed like a never ending start to the labor process. We got to the hospital at 5:45 - 5:30 was just way too early. They got all my info and pitocin was started at 7. The hospital policy is to not allow moms to walk when on pitocin because they have to be hooked up to the fetal heart rate monitor. Okay fine. So until my doctor broke my water at 10:30 or so I did get a few hours of standing up by the monitor time because those hospital beds are for the birds.
Anyways so it seemed as if zero was happening and at noon at 4. I was pretty sure that I was going to have to have c-section because this was going no where and it was taking forever. I really thought I'd be snuggling a baby by lunch. So 1:30 rolls around and contractions are getting stronger so I hit the Stadol please button - even though I was really hoping to not go that route.

20 Pregnancy Questions Answered

In no particular order, here goes...

1. Q - From the nurse - was this pregnancy planned?
A - Seriously haven't we been through this enough to know that we happen to know what the deal is? Well, it was unplanned

2. Q - From the doctor, so, have you told anybody?
A - No. Dr - Chicken. Me - Yeah, I know but really I'm not ready for the questions and the commentary. (see question #1 as evidence; see next 18 question as further evidence)

3. Q - So are you getting a bigger van?
A - Hopefully not. YES. I had to edit that one. We were hoping to skate through one more baby before going to the MASSIVE van stage of our family life but I tried to put 2 Britax marathons and 1 Britax frontier in the third row (because 2 frontiers leaves about / / much space). Didn't work. Then I drove a third of E's class on a field trip and would you believe that even three backless boosters won't fit across the third row either?!?!?!?!
