Answer Me This - Needed a Reason to Blog

1. What's for dinner?

Usually you have to ask Papa. HOWEVER, I cranked out some tacos for dinner tonight because its kinda hard to be responsible for dinner when you work a FOURTEEN HOUR DAY! And how about the shells I picked up from the store at 8:42 this morning (after dropping girls before work because you know you're really desperate when..) were STALE. STALE. Lee HATES stale taco shells. The girls did not notice and I ate mine but he cannot stand them and I did not have the heart to call him at 8:00 pm (once everyone was booked, brushed and bed-ed) to tell him. Fortunately we had some tortilla chips but still.. totally annoyed.

Hello. I am cute and like to drop my cup on the floor

E - "R let's decorate our tacos with cheese"

E - Mama you just have to try one of these olives
Me - That's okay. I prefer not to eat them
E - But you need to try one
Me - {ahhhhh.. 4-yr-old is feeding me my own line!} Okay I'll try one {did I mention I detest olives and pickles?}
E - They are so sweet
Me - They are salty to me. I tried it but prefer not to eat them!

2. What's the last thing you borrowed from someone?

Hmmmm.. I borrowed a pen from the lady at the bank because I cannot keep a pen in the van. Seriously it drives me crazy. I just want to keep a pen amidst all the bags and coats and clothes and cups and receipts and junk in the van. Just one.

3. What is your favorite prayer?

Love the Ave Maria  - in Latin sung.

A good stand by is the Jesus prayer - Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me sinner

Always love to here E pray the St. Michael prayer. Hearing a 4-yr-old say "By the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls" warms my heart and gives me chill bumps at the same time

BUT all time favorite prayer is.. The Prayer of St. Ephraim:

Lord and Master of my life spare me from the spirit of indifference, despair, lust for power and idle chatter

Instead bestow on me your servant the spirit of integrity, humility, patience, and love

Yes O Lord and King, let me see my own sins and not judge my brothers and sisters for you are blessed unto ages of ages, Amen.

4. What is the oldest thing in your house?

I've been waiting for the perfect time to bring this up!!!

So a few months ago Nani - aka mi vecina, my first friend in the Mount, my {former :(} officemate, but still co-worker - gave me this prayer book that her grandmother's brother had - or something like that. She was going through his stuff and Nani knowing that we are her token Catholic friends (love you Nani!) would love an old Catholic prayer book.

So just for this post I did a bit of digging - thanks Wikipedia - and discovered that Patrick John Ryan was Archbishop of Philadelphia from 1884-1911 so the book is at least 100 years old. Totally cool!

5. What's the best concert you ever attended?

Dave Matthews Band. {Totally blanking on the year but if I had to guess 2003}

I was front row, center section.

I was (and still really like) Dave Matthews Band. I just have not been to a concert since. Well maybe one, but not the same. Anyways, they played Ants Marching which to this day remains my favorite song.

6. Do you have a nickname?

Chicky has stuck. I am told it is an Andy Griffith reference to a "checkpoint chicky". That is Lee's favorite show.

  1. Miner you are supposed to reheat the taco shells, you can't just take them out the box and eat...well you can but they're not very good that way. :| I have much to teach you grasshopper.
