Theme Thursday - Secret

Me - You know is there really any ideal parenting situation?
Nani - Yeah there's got to be...
Me - But you know sometimes Lee and I's parenting situation is - we just throw our hands in the air and look at each other and say "What the hell?"
Nani - {trying not to choke on her food}
Me - I mean not all the time; but occasionally...

Parenting Secret Here... Even though we/I may appear to have it all together {even though most of the time I think that I don't appear to have it all together}... really this whole parenting 'thing' is trial and error and riding on highs and picking ourselves/family out of lows. Parenting takes insane amount of patience and compassion - something I pray for daily - and a bit of humor.

Some days Lee and I sit down once the kitchen in cleaned the the girls are in bed and ask ourselves how we survived the day. Other times we look at each other and give ourselves high fives because we conquered another day of parenting without a crazy meltdown or mental lapse. And some times we look at each other and wonder what in the world we coulda/shoulda/woulda done differently.

Parenting is all about doing what you think as a parent is the best thing for your kids and your family and standing behind your decisions and not being afraid to admit you make mistakes and learning from them.

Parenting is the most difficult thing a person can do. Hands down. HOWEVER it is the wildest, craziest, funniest ride I've ever been on and we're/I'm just getting started.

I think a secret to parenting is having a strong, solid support system - family and friends - who you can depend on in those 'pinch' moments, you can bounce ideas off of, have the occasional my-kid-just-did-this rant to, people who love you and your kids despite all the craziness and drama-rama.

I don't know where we would be without our support system - you know who you are - we COULD NOT do it without you.

    1. I tell my husband that parenting is like a rubber band.. You get stretched to what you think is your breaking point and then when the next trying situation comes up you the stretch is a bit more manageable and you can get stretched even further
